Bill: You see the headlines Fergie made last week, talking about her methamphetamine addiction? The lead singer of the Black-Eyed Peas, with everything to live for, saying she'd been living in a state of "chemically induced paranoid schizophrenia." Dr. Dave: She went into the 12 Step Program of Narcotics Anonymous to get clean and sober- but could have ridden her addiction to a hospital or jail. Bill: She wouldn't be the first who died of it, either. Dr. Dave: She made a vow to herself in the middle of a meth hallucination: "I was convinced the FBI and SWAT team were outside my house and told myself: 'OK, if you walk through that door and nobody is there, it's the drugs'". Fortunately for her, it WAS the drugs and she ended up in rehab. Bill: Not everyone is that smart, or lucky.

GARRETT PITIES SPEARS + LOHAN'S PLIGHT
Former child star LEIF GARRETT sympathises with troubled stars BRITNEY SPEARS and LINDSAY LOHAN, insisting young celebrities are bound to make mistakes when they're in the public eye so much. Singer/actor Garrett, who has famously battled drug addiction as an adult, hopes the Hollywood starlets can sort out their problems before it's too late. The now-clean 45-year-old says, "It's really tough, what Britney's going through right now, and Lindsay. When you've got the media in your face the whole time it's kind of tough. "We're all human... you make mistakes, and that's what happens. It's just not being publicised." Garrett checked into rehab last year (06) after police found him in possession of heroin in what was the latest of a string of drug-related arrests. After quitting the treatment centre, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail and three years probation in May 2006, but was credited with the time already served in police custody.
Pete Doherty's McCartney advice
Pete Doherty and Sir Paul McCartney got on "like father and son" when they met for a heart to heart. The troubled Babyshambles singer - who has spent the last month fighting his drug addiction at Wiltshire's Clouds rehab centre - promised the Beatles legend he is serious about cleaning up his act. A friend of Pete's told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "He was overwhelmed by meeting Paul. They had a real heart to heart - at times it was like a father talking to his son. Pete promised Paul he was serious about getting clean, was through with the drugs, and said he never wanted to fall back into his dark days again." .
AMY WINEHOUSE - FATHER FEARS FOR NEWLY-WED WINEHOUSE'S HEALTH
The father of singer AMY WINEHOUSE fears for his daughter's health now more than ever, following the troubled star's marriage to BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL. Mitch Winehouse believes the Rehab hitmaker's troubles really started following her shock wedding to Fielder-Civil last May (07). He tells British chat show This Morning, "It's apparent in her music that she's smoked dope for quite a while, probably from the age of 16 or 17, perhaps even earlier. "She was a complete opponent of hard drugs - in fact, she got up and said she couldn't understand why people in the music industry took hard drugs and that changed about six months ago when she got married to Blake. "And I'm not saying it's Blake's fault, what I'm saying is Amy's responsible for her own actions. However, it's a fact that the hard drugs coincided with their marriage." Mitch Winehouse said his daughter has cut down on her drinking in the past year but is still battling bulimia and drug addiction.
