Columnist report

Olbermann had a piece last night showing Rudy pretending to know Asa in public and then pretending to know Bow Wow Santorum. I'm surprised Rudy wasn't handing out little chunks of the World Trade Center to the adoring Republican audiences. The fluff so fluffy it made my Cool-Whip seem heavy last night during dessert.

I keep smacking myself upside the head trying to make sense of it all. Here in 2006, we're living in the most dangerous times in the last 60 years and yet from top to bottom our leaders are just a dollop of Cool-Whip. There is no substance to any of them. We are adrift with a fool driving the ship. God how I wish something mattered again.

I can pull a few facts together. Beebe will win, he is not behind, he is not scared, Cheney, Rove, McCain, Rudy and Zell cannot put the wind back in Asa's limp sails.

UCLA's Love, Blue Hens take home Weely Watch honors

Delaware knocked off George Mason in overtime earlier in the week after being down 19 in the game.

The Blue Hens got 23 points from Georgetown transfer Marc Egerson in the win over the Patriots. Senior forward Herb Courtney scored 27 points in the win over ODU.

Even though the games were at home, Delaware beat two of the recent powers in the conference -- ODU and Mason -- in the same week.

Taking down VCU on Wednesday and Northeastern on Saturday would certainly serve notice that Delaware is in the race for the whole season.

Regardless, Delaware has made itself relevant again after some lean years following the highly successful Mike Brey-era at the school.

What Delaware did last week was to ensure that they will be taken seriously the rest of the season as a legitimate player in the conference title race.

No Christmas, Hanukkah Spirit for Israel Father's Rights Activists ...

Jerusalem-----December 24 ....... It's Christmas Day in Israel - the Holy Land, the warm lights of Hanukkah are now fading and a New Year is just days away. Tis the season to merry, many say. It is the season of family. Of father, mother and children. Or is it?

On this Christmas day, on the eight days of Hanukkah how many divorced men were separated from their children by family courts and negligent social workers in Israel, North America and Europe?
Dads, who pay child support. Dads who are loving and responsible. Good fathers who as a direct result of gender bias discrimination have been turned from being a full time dad into a "visitor."

The State of Israel has not reformed its Knesset Family Custody Act since it was passed into law in 1962.
Nor do many social workers in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Ra'anana, Kfar Sava and Herzliya realize the devastating effects of separating dads from their kids.

Unfit to be a mother?

Laura was about to give birth in hospital when the authorities arrived to take her baby. "The doctor just handed her over and that was that," she says. "All I wanted was to die," she adds, barely audible. Laura had been in a violent marriage. She left her husband when she was pregnant, but went on to have a breakdown. She says she had recovered by the time social services got involved, but they encouraged her to sign papers consenting to the adoption of her unborn baby. She refused. They insisted. She still refused. They said they would take the baby anyway.

Laura's daughter was initially cared for by foster carers and she was allowed to visit five days a week, although there was no opportunity to breastfeed. Once the adopters had been identified, the meetings were reduced to one day a week at a time and finally she was offered a "goodbye visit".

Condemned Killer Says Bible Helped Jury Decide His Death Sentence

A third said the reading of Scripture was intended to make people feel better about their decision.

Oliver is at a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison where inmates undergo treatment for psychiatric conditions and could not be interviewed.

Cochran had until the end of December to present written briefs to the court. Prosecutors will then have an opportunity to respond. Oral arguments before the New Orleans-based court are not likely until later in 2008.
